Feline Vaccination Descriptions

FVRCP- Feline Viral Rhinotrachetitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia.
*Highly contagious and easily passed between cats.

FELV- Feline Leukemia Virus
*Contracted through saliva, urine, feces, and is transplacental.
*Outdoor cats are a higher risk.

FIV- Feline Immunodeficiency Virus
*Contracted through bite wounds, sexual transmission, transplacental and transmammary.
*Outdoor cats are at higher risk

RABIES- First vaccination is given at 4 months of age, effective for 1 year.
*Virus that attacks the bain and central nervous system.
*Transmitted to humans through bite of an infected animal.
*Required by County of Sacramento to obtain license

OTHER SERVICES

FELV/FIV TEST-Recommended to test at least once in a lifetime.
*Outdoor cats should be tested yearly.

FECAL-Sample of feces is brought in to test for intestinal parasites.

HEARTWORM PREVENTION- Given once a month all year long to prevent fatal heartworm disease.

EARLY DETECTION- A routine blood test should be performed yearly on all pets to ensure they are healthy. By routinely checking bloodwork, our doctors are able to diagnose problems early to prevent further disease. Some disorders, if caught early, can be treated with a simple diet change.
